Cipangopaludina japonica River Snail Revisited

Back in October 2010, I wrote about finding this fresh water snail shell in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA.  It is thought to be a Cipangopaludina japonica whose ancestors were probably brought over from Asia to clean aquariums.  They got dumped in the river or its tributary and the result is pictured in this posting.

These images are of one shell that has been cleaned.  It is quite a nice looking shell with lots of shine.  I have been told this snail is edible but how one cooks it I am not sure.

This shell is for sale along with a Paleozoic fossil snail for a low price: CLICK HERE!
